When I first named my programme Selfish Era, I knew it would make people stop. Tilt their head. Feel that little jolt in their chest.
Because for so many women (and especially the eldest‑daughter‑energy women I work with) the word selfish feels… uncomfortable. Even the thought of sitting down to read for 20 minutes can feel “selfish.” And that’s exactly why I chose it.
For me, selfishness isn’t about ignoring anyone else’s needs. It’s about looking after yourself first.
And here’s the truth I’ve learned through my childhood, through caring for my parents, through home‑educating my son, through running a charity, through building my business:
Being selfish is actually quite selfless.
When you look after yourself, you become the calmer, happier version of you. The version who shows up as a better mum, entrepreneur, partner, daughter, friend. The version who isn’t running on fumes or resentment.
I see so many women who give and give and give… and then feel guilty for wanting even the smallest thing for themselves. A quiet moment. A dream. A boundary. A life that feels lighter.
This event is your permission slip to rewrite that story.
On 26 September, in Devon, we’re gathering to explore what it means to choose yourself – not at the expense of others, but for the benefit of everyone you love.
Your Selfish Era isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who you were before the world piled responsibility on your shoulders.
And I can’t wait to welcome you into it.
